John A. Lockwood, formerly a partner in Ashford & Wriston's Honolulu office, began practicing law in 1968 and joined the firm in 1974. He is currently Of Counsel to the firm.
Mr. Lockwood focuses his practice on real property, commercial leasing, trust and estate law. His experience includes:
- Lead local counsel in acquisition of a major resort property;
- Representation of developers of major downtown office buildings;
- Estate planning and trust administration;
- Supervision of the firm's probate practice.
Professional Activities:
Mr. Lockwood serves as an arbitrator in the State Court Annexed Arbitration Program. He is a member of the Hawai`i State Bar Association and the American Bar Association (Probate & Real Property Section). Mr. Lockwood has lectured on estate administration and commercial leasing for the National Business Institute.

- In 1986, Mr. Lockwood was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Community Activities:
Mr. Lockwood is very active in the Hawai`i community. He has served on the Board of Directors of various organizations including Child & Family Service, Rotary Club of Honolulu, Hawai`i Public Radio, Aloha United Way, and the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawai`i. Mr. Lockwood currently serves in the Board of Directors of the Oceanic Institute, the Board of Trustees of Hawai`i Pacific University, the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Honolulu and formerly served on the Board of Trustees of Hawai`i Loa College. He is a former President of the Rotary Club of Honolulu and is currently the President of the Robert F. Lange Foundation. Mr. Lockwood is also active in Hawaii's Episcopal community; he served as the Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai`i for over 20 years and is presently Chancellor Emeritus.
