Jill M. Hasegawa, is an Associate with Ashford & Wriston, having joined the firm in September 2004. She was admitted to the Hawai`i Bar in 2004.
Ms. Hasegawa focuses her practice on commercial litigation, collections, family law, general civil litigation and real property.
Professional Affiliations:
Ms. Hasegawa is a member of the American Bar and Hawai`i State Bar Associations. She was also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, District of Hawai`i in 2004.
Professional Activities:
Ms. Hasegawa serves as the Vice-Chair of the Hawaii Access to Justice Commission, a position she was appointed to in June 2008 by Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald Moon. She also chairs the Commissions' Annual Report Committee, and serves as a member of its Administrative Committee and various task forces.
Ms. Hasegawa is a past President of the Hawaii State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division (2008) and served on its Board of Directors (2006-2008). Ms. Hasegawa is also a past member of the Hawaii State Bar Association's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. She currently serves as a member of its' Strategic Planning Committee, including helping to spearhead the inaugural Leadership Institute Program. Ms. Hasegawa also currently serves as a District Representative for the American Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division (ABA YLD) , representing District 33 (Alaska and Hawaii), and as a Assistant Council Coordinator. In her capacity as ABA YLD District Representative, Ms. Hasegawa is responsible for assisting in the coordination of disaster legal services for Hawaii and Alaska with the ABA YLD and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Community Activities:
Ms. Hasegawa is very supportive of and invovled with her alma mater. She is a current member of the Board of Directors for the University of Hawaii Alumni Association, the immediate past President of the William S. Richardson School of Law Alumni Association and a current member of its Board of Directors. Ms. Hasegawa is an active participant in the law school’s mentoring program and volunteers with The George Washington University alumni admissions program as its alumni recruiting coordinator in Hawaii.
Ms. Hasegawa is also very active in her local community. She serves on the Board of the Friends of the East-West Center, and is a participant with the organization's host family program. In addition, Ms. Hasegawa is a volunteer attorney with Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii and the Judiciary's Volunteers in Public Service (VIPS) Kid's First Program.
Professional Recognition:
In 2009, Ms. Hasegawa was recognized by Pacific Business News as one of Hawaii's "Forty Under Forty" top business and community leaders.
